ABOUT YOUR Conventional/4-H PIG!
Our children look forwards to showing livestock every summer! One of their favorite spring/summer projects is walking their pigs around the yard daily to practice for the local fairs in the summer time!
This year our 2 oldest boys will be showing registered Poland China and Duroc from a local breeder! They love feeding their pigs daily with feed from a local mill, giving them fresh water, on those hot summer days they give them daily baths!
PRICING
Deposit is 30% of average hanging weight of 1/2 hog. Price is $3.15/# hanging weight. The kids showing and tending to this pigs receive all profits after they pay for their feed bills and supplies for the year!
1/2 hog hanging weight averages 100# (It may fluctuate a few pounds in either direction). Our average 1/2 hog will be about $315. PLUS processing!
DEPOSIT is due to secure your bulk pork purchase with Rockwood Farms. It is first come first serve. Once we are sold out in 2022 we are sold out until Summer 2023. The balance of your meat is due upon us taking your hog to local Chenoa, IL Locker on August 17, 2022 and we give you your hanging weight total
Chenoa is about an hour drive south of Ottawa. You will be responsible to call in your custom cutting instructions for your pork. You are also responsible for picking up your meat when it is ready!! Payment for the locker processing is due upon pick up of your meat at the locker. You are not allowed to pick your meat up until you have paid your balance in full for your pork to Rockwood Farms.
Our 2021 customers average processing for a 1/2 hog was around $150. Suggested cuts at the locker are bacon, bulk sausage, sausage patties, links, pork chops, ham, ham steaks, pork roast, pork steaks, ribs, and more!
THERE are Absolutely NO Returns or Refunds on Deposits of pork sales. ALL SALES ARE FINAL unless an act of God happens on our end and we are unable to deliver the pork to you.
